7 Tips for a Luxurious Long weekend in Steamboat

Long Weekend in Steamboat | Moving Mountains

Longing for a long weekend in Steamboat? We’ve got tips and tricks to maximize your time on the slopes while minimizing your time out of the office.

A destination ski weekend used to be unheard of. Complicated connections and commutes weren’t worth just a 3-day visit to the Rockies. These days, the convenience of Steamboat’s top-rated airport has changed that. Most of Steamboat’s East Coast direct flights arrive before the lifts close, and our West Coast flights will get you here before night skiing opens (your same-day direct flight boarding pass also gets you on the night skiing lift for free!).

If you thought you were relegated to whatever weekend warrior humdrum ski spot is closest to your front door, think again.

A weekend in Steamboat can be nearly effortless, especially when the ease of getting here is coupled with the 5-star service and accommodations at Moving Mountains. Our beyond compare experience ensures that your ski weekend getaway will feel more like a luxuriously long rejuvenating vacation rather than a drive-by failed attempt at speed relaxation.

Here are 7 tips for a luxurious long weekend in Steamboat

Don’t rent a car

You don’t need one when you stay with us, and this saves you immeasurable amounts of time. Why give yourself a weekend crash course in ice and snow driving (plus 4wd headaches) when you can go from jetway to ski chalet without scraping an icy windshield or navigating a snowy car rental parking lot?

When you reserve directly with us, we can reserve a driver to ferry you over to your accommodations where a member of our staff will to show you around your weekend home-away-from-home.

Our private drivers will also drop you off at the shortest lift line in the morning, whisk you home after apres-ski and will chauffeur you to and from your dinner destination (or anywhere in between). Ubers are not in plentiful supply, we highly recommend using our private car service, instead.

Don’t go to the grocery store

Time is short and grocery lines are long. We can stock your chalet with whatever you need ahead of time. No one has to go 3 days without their favorites and you don’t have to wander the freezer aisles wishing you were back in the hot tub.

Private Chef | Moving Mountains

Do reserve a private chef for the night

This is a specialty of ours and it has been our guests’ favorite amenity for over 20 years! You can either reserve the signature full luxury catered chalet experience (and have your entire weekend catered, saving all of your energy for the slopes) or you can treat yourself to one indulgent night in with our chefs, and two nights sampling Steamboat out on the town. If you’re heading out and need a babysitter, we recommend reserving ahead with Steamboat Nannies.

Do have your ski rentals delivered

Black Tie | Moving Mountains

Skip the ski shop and get outfitted from the comfort of the couch. We can arrange to have Black Tie Ski Rentals bring top-notch gear to your chalet. You can go Cinderella-style and find the perfect fit (on performance equipment) without ever having to wait for service in the ski shop. Black Tie also runs our ski valet services at One Steamboat Place, Chateau Chamonix, and Edgemont.

Don’t miss the powder stashes

When you’ve had a winter like ours, guests are hoping to experience Steamboat’s infamous Champagne powder. While storms might not be perfectly timed for your visit, fresh flakes are easy to find if you know where to look. Our secret guide to the best powder stashes will maximize your powder fun while minimizing your search time.

Don’t waste time packing too much

Steamboat is casual. No need to overthink the options. We’ve put together the quintessential Steamboat ski trip packing guide from the pragmatic to the posh. Follow our suggestions and you’ll be zipped up and ready to be TSA pre-checked in no time.

Don’t stay anywhere else

We have been recognized by our peers, our neighbors and, most importantly, our guests, as having the best accommodations and service in all of Steamboat. In fact, many of our guests have shared that they have tried to find a Moving Mountains caliber 5-star experience in other ski resorts only to be grossly disappointed. You definitely don’t want to leave a short stay to chance. You can trust that we will move mountains to ensure that your weekend getaway is beyond expectations.

One Steamboat Place | Moving Mountains

One Steamboat Place

For a long weekend and for the most variety, we recommend one of our One Steamboat Place residences. It’s the ultimate in both convenience and luxury. With an on-site spa, hip apres-ski spot, adult game-room, kids’ game room, complimentary breakfast, daily wine tastings, stunning views, a ski valet and an unbeatable mountain village location, it’ll get you into vacation mode quickly and easily.

 Edgemont | Moving Mountains

Edgemont

With this option, you can literally go straight from your slippers to your ski boots and schuss right out the front door of a 2, 3 or 4-bedroom residence. It was recently featured as one of the top 5 best ski getaways in Curbed.

We have many more residences that can accommodate groups of all sizes. Give us a call so that we can pair your needs with the perfect weekend getaway chalet. We would be delighted to take the guesswork out, reserve your babysitter, reserve the massage therapist, stock the cellar and plan the ultimate 72-hour itinerary.

Wouldn’t you rather save time on your online search and start crafting your out-of-office autoresponder, instead?
