One Perfect Day: Pure Fun, Pure Sun, Pure Spring in Steamboat

The chill of winter gives way to warm, bluebird sky days that stretch long past après. It's March, the perfect time for a family spring break ski vacation. Just sunshine, soft snow, and wide-open cruisers.

And when you’re staying at Over the Edge, one of the flagship homes in the Moving Mountains Apex Collection, the experience extends beyond the slopes. This isn’t an ordinary vacation rental home. It’s your family’s own private resort.

Here’s how to spend One Perfect "Over the Top" Day at Over the Edge for Spring Break in Steamboat.

RISE AND SHINE: HIT THE GYM

The gym you say? But I'm on vacation! And going skiing! But just wait until you see this in-home gym. But first, wake up slowly, sip your coffee and watch the sunrise in the meditation room, and enjoy the peace and quiet (briefly) before the day unfolds.

It's not long before the house is in full motion. Downstairs in the gym, the kids are scrambling up the climbing wall. Someone else is squeezing in a quick round on the golf simulator. And a Peloton ride or Pilates session is underway. All before breakfast!

DAYTIME ADVENTURES: PEAK SUNSHINE

But there's no rush to get to the slopes. In the spring, 10am-2pm is the sweet spot of the day. Let the snow soften up a bit then head up to Sunshine Peak where you’ll find some of the best spring ski conditions on the mountain.

Learn more about how expansive early season snowmaking provides a solid base for the entire season.

Ski right from your back deck, down to catch the Wild Blue Gondola that takes you straight to the top of Mt. Werner. Do lap after lap of long cruisers on perfectly groomed runs.

Then make your way down to the base area for a late lunch. Or, since Over the Edge is slopeside, you can simply pop home for a break.

APRÈS: ROCKING THE BOAT

By mid-afternoon the base area is buzzing. Steamboat Square turns into one big dance party. Grab a drink, soak up the live music, and enjoy the quintessential Steamboat "Bud Light Rocks the Boat" atmosphere.

Après means something different to everyone. Perhaps it starts at the base with live music. Some may head back home to relax in the pool, hot tub and sauna.

The kids race back to the climbing wall or hang out in the lower level family room.

While others gather in the pool room for some friendly competition or catch some March Madness on the big screen TV.

DINNER TIME: FAMILY TIME

Tonight there are no reservations, no driving, no stress. But also, no prepping, cooking, or cleaning-up! A personal chef has taken over the kitchen...

(Our Guest Services team can help arrange private chef dinners in your vacation home!)

So the Moms go back to lounging on the deck, enjoying cocktails, and waiting for the chef to pass around appetizers!

When "dinner is served" is declared, everyone rushes in from all corners of the home to gather for a family-style feast.

What? You want to go back out skiing? Yes, there are always teenagers in the group with plenty of energy to burn. For those who want to sneak away for a few final turns of the day, the lower part of the mountain lights up with night skiing from 5:30-8:30pm, Thursdays-Sundays.

For those ready to start winding down, settle in to the home's theater room for a family movie night.

SWEET DREAMS: REST, RECHARGE, REPEAT

When everyone’s energy is finally exhausted, drift off to the home’s eight bedrooms. By the time heads hit pillows, cheeks are sun-kissed and legs pleasantly tired.

Rest up for another bluebird day tomorrow!

In Steamboat, springtime at Over the Edge is a celebration. Longer days, warmer nights, music and laughter in the air, and a home that turns a family ski vacation into something truly memorable.
