Breckenridge winter fun off the slopes

Believe it or not, there is more to do than just skiing and snowboarding in Breckenridge in the winter (gasp!). On your day off from the slopes, try another unforgettable adventure with the many other offerings in and around Breckenridge. From hot springs to skating and snow tubing, we have plenty of options to keep you entertained off the slopes.

Here's some of our top picks for other winter adventures:

Snow Tubing

A favorite for kids and thrill seeking parents, tubing is a must. Slide down snow-covered hills on an inner tube. A lift will transport you to the top of the hill and all you have to do is point your tube down the hill. This is a fun activity not far from Breckenridge that is for kids and adults. Need more thrill? Try extreme sledding. Take the sledding experience you’ve loved as a kid and amplify it to the extreme during this thrilling outdoor adventure. Feel the rush!

Ice Skating

Fun for all ages, ice skating should be on your list of winter activities in Breckenridge. Breckenridge is home to several ice skating venues, offering the perfect opportunity to spend an afternoon gliding around in winter wonderland. Head to the outdoor rink at Maggie pond with a mug of hot chocolate for a family skating advneture, then enjoy a stroll through historic downtown Breckenridge for the quintesential Norman Rockwell afternoon!

For another option, try the indoor and covered outdoor rink with skate rentals and locker rooms at Stephen C. West Ice Arena, just south of downtown.

Snowmobiling

There’s more than one way to dash through the snow in Breckenridge and snowmobiling is always a favorite off-mountain activity. Thousands of acres, groomed trails, tree-lined meadows and open space offer plenty of room for high-powered playtime. Numerous options for all ages and abilities.

Ice Climbing

Adventurous souls can climb a frozen waterfall with a certified guide in a spectacular setting. It’s not for the faint of heart, but no prior experience is required. It’s an exhilarating way to spend the day in Breckenridge!

Snow Biking

Winter snow doesn't stop biking enthusiasts in Breckenridge. Fat biking has grown in popularity- named after the 'fat', wide tires on the bikes that allow you to float on the snow and enjoy a good workout. Bring plenty of water and dress in layers- even when it's cold, biking can make you hot. Wearing a backpack is ideal to store extra layers, snacks and supplies.

Sleigh Rides

Enjoy an afternoon hot cocoa or evening ride wrapped in a blanket, listening to the jingle of a horse drawn sleigh, the crisp mountain air and beautiful mountain views.

Winter Fishing

Combine your passions for snow and fishing with some fly fishing or ice fishing. You may have come to Breck to ski, but fishing is a year round enjoyment here - so dont be afraid to wet the line with some winter flyfishing.

Hot Springs Soaking

While there are no natural hot springs in Breckenridge, there are some wonderful hot springs resorts in nearby mountain towns. If you are up for a scenic drive for a hot springs soak, let us help guide you towards the towns of Nathrop, Buena Vista, Salida, or farther to Glenwood Springs.
