Best Breakfast in Steamboat Springs

A hearty breakfast is the secret to a perfect day in the mountains—whether you’re gearing up for first tracks, a family hike, or a leisurely stroll through town. Our team knows that starting strong means finding the right spot to fuel up, relax, and soak in the local flavor. From cozy cafés serving fresh pastries to bustling diners with big mountain breakfasts, these are our staff’s favorite places to kick off the day before heading out for Colorado adventures.

"When I want to treat myself to breakfast or brunch on a weekend, Yampa Valley Kitchen is my restaurant of choice. The Forager Benedict is amazing and the Bananas Foster French Toast is oh so decadent."
- Teresa Wiedel, Brand & Guest Experience Manager

Yampa Valley Kitchen sources the highest quality local, organic, or sustainable foods and serves it up in a charming renovated house.

"Love the sweet potato breakfast hash."
- Effie Henderson, Staff Accountant

"Winona's! Always consistently delicious breakfast/lunch items right on Lincoln Ave."
- Vanessa Beasley, Guest Services & Content Specialist

Winona's is a longtime Steamboat breakfast favorite known for their homemade baked goods and giant cinnamon rolls.

"The Acai Bowls are my go-to for a healthy breakfast."
- Heather Craigen, Co-founder | CFO

Eat in or grab a breakfast sandwich to go on the way to the slopes or the trailhead. Cruiser's is a locally-owned sub shop that is also known for its Acai Bowls.

"Steamboat’s finest tradition"
- Robin Craigen, Co-Founder | CEO

Steamboat Springs is steeped in tradition, and no place has stood the test of time better than the Shack, which has been serving breakfast since 1969 in the heart of Old Town Steamboat. Dig into a plateful of biscuits & gravy, Huevos Rancheros (Robin's favorite), or the Hobo Special.

"Don't sleep on Lil' House Country Biscuits on the west end of town. This hole-in-the-wall is my favorite for on-the-go morning fuel. It's the perfect pitstop if you're headed out to hike Hahns Peak, snowmobile in the backcountry or ride horses at Saddleback Ranch. You must try the El Capitan burrito or the Mamacita biscuit sammy."
- Mallory McCall, Guest Services Specialist

Lil' House Country Biscuits is a little bit of North Carolina on the west side of town. And the best biscuits around!
