Steamboat Hot Springs

Thing To Do Steamboat Hot Springs

Our collective love of hot springs predates our love of snowsports by about 100 years. Yes, long before Steamboat Springs was a ski town, visitors came from miles around to relax and recover in our natural hot springs.

Whether you were going for a soak 140 years ago or just last week, our medicinal hot springs are legendary for reviving tired muscles and melting worries away.

While there are over 150 Steamboat Springs hot springs in the area, including the namesake spring that used to sound like a steamboat chugging up the river, there are two areas where you can soak and soothe after an active day in Steamboat.

Strawberry Park Hot Springs

Strawberry Park Hot Springs is located just 7 miles from downtown Steamboat Springs. It’s tucked away in the mountains, surrounded by aspens and fir trees. The setting is rustic, yet charming with changing rooms and massage services for both indoor and aquatic treatments.

Shuttles are highly recommended. In the wintertime, 4WD and adequate snow tires are required. Year-round, parking is limited. But a trip to these beautiful springs, anytime of year, maybe the highlight of your trip. Clothing is optional after dark so keep the kids under 18 at home (as they aren’t permitted to be there when the sun goes down).

Old Town Hot Springs

Old Town Hot Springs is located conveniently in downtown Steamboat Springs. This is an extremely family-friendly facility that’s undergone recent renovations including the addition of an indoor climbing wall and expanded workout facilities.

There is a kiddie pool and a shallow pool not to mention two thrilling water slides and ever-popular outdoor climbing wall.  There’s also a lap pool, a larger hot pool, smaller more intimate hot pools including the favorite, waterfall hot pool. The pools have been here for over 100 years, first enjoyed by the Native American Ute Indians and later by Steamboat’s first homesteaders.

And, of course, to guarantee that your Steamboat water adventures go swimmingly, pair them with a perfect chalet from Moving Mountains. Most of our chalets come equipped with hot tubs, several of our properties have heated outdoor pools, and all come with our insider knowledge and recommendations on the best ways to make the most of your Steamboat family vacation.
