Robin Craigen is a life-long hospitality professional and the co-founder of Moving Mountains, one of North America’s premier luxury vacation rental management companies. What started as a bold idea in Steamboat Springs in 1997, with his wife and business partner Heather, has grown into a multi-market brand known for its service excellence, operating in Steamboat, Vail, Beaver Creek, and Breckenridge—and expanding into yacht charters with the launch of the Oceans division in 2024.
Along the way, Moving Mountains has been honored with several prestigious awards, including Skift Host of the Year (2024), The Shortyz Guest Experience Award (2025), and recognition as one of the Top 80 Best Places to Work in the USA (2024).
Robin’s professional roots run deep in hospitality. Before Moving Mountains, he spent years in the European travel industry running chalets in the French Alps, villas in the Greek Islands, and active vacation programs in Greece and the Canary Islands. He then spent a decade as a professional yachtsman, logging thousands of ocean miles, and operated a luxury charter yacht in the British Virgin Islands with Heather—a partnership that extended naturally into business.
Family is at the center of everything Robin does. His wife Heather is not only his life partner but also Moving Mountains’ CFO, and together they have raised two children, Maddie and Sebastian. Their shared values of hard work, adventure, and hospitality are woven into the company’s DNA.
Robin is a passionate advocate for the vacation rental industry, having served on the boards of the Steamboat Lodging Association, the Steamboat Chamber, and the Community Preservation Alliance. He’s also a frequent speaker at national conferences and a contributor to industry podcasts and webinars, always eager to share insights that help elevate the broader vacation rental community.
When he’s not leading Moving Mountains, you’ll find Robin chasing powder days on his snowboard or logging serious miles on his bike—both on mountain trails and scenic roads. He’s a founding member and past President of Routt County Riders and has raced in endurance events like the Leadville 100 MTB, Park City Point 2 Point, Joberg2C, and L’Étape du Tour. His sailing career includes landmark races such as the Newport-Bermuda, Sydney-Hobart, and the Fastnet Race. Robin draws inspiration from these demanding pursuits, seeing them as mirrors for the perseverance, preparation, and passion it takes to lead a thriving company over decades.
Today, as President and CEO, Robin remains driven by a simple mission: exceed guest expectations, foster a vibrant, values-driven company culture, and continue building a legacy of excellence with the team—and family—at his side.
