"Sample the Simple Pleasures"

Join chef Heather for a week geared to pampering and learning tips on pampering guests in your home. A typical day may include waking up to coffee in bed then making your way to the kitchen to watch and participate in a 2-hour demonstration on a meal preparation (that will be enjoyed at a later time).

After a gourmet lunch it's off to visit Strawberry Parks' Natural Hot Springs where an afternoon of massage Le Chef awaits you. We return to the Chalet late afternoon to enjoy hors d'oeuvres and a wine tasting with a local sommelier. We'll discuss the characteristics of the various types of wine with an opportunity to learn more about the art of tasting. Then the day is complete with a meal that you can easily recreate when you're in your own kitchen.

Cooking Seminars are not 8-hour days of cooking instruction. Roughly 4-hours a day will be spent in the "classroom" (a.k.a. the kitchen) creating recipes from your "textbook" (the cookbook Simple Pleasures, authored by Heather Craigen). The emphasis of the seminars is on learning time-saving entertaining techniques. We will also discuss the basics of wine selection and you are welcome to participate in meal preparation.

This gourmet week can also include a demonstration from another top local chef who will also invite you to dine at his restaurant that evening.

Available as a "Select Room" week for individuals or couples. Both partners do not need to participate; we can arrange activities for people not participating in the cooking seminars. Whole Chalet bookings can be adapted to include Cooking Seminars by advance request.

Christmas
For families or groups of friends - Moving Mountains promises to offer a holiday How come I only have 2 reindeer?

you won't forget! Join us on a walk (or snow shoe) into the Routt National Forest to cut down a "Charlie Brown" Christmas tree. As thoughts of Norman Rockwell scenes pass through your mind, the festive atmosphere of this holiday town will overwhelm you. Leave behind the stresses of the real world and just enjoy being together with your friends or family. The ski mountain awaits you every morning or perhaps a thrilling snowmobile ride over Rabbit Ears Pass is more your speed! The options are endless and can be as soothing as savoring homemade Eggnog or mulled wine in our 8-person hot tub! The festively decorated Chalet sets the tone for a week of fun. Classic Christmas videos on our large screen TV will send everyone off to bed with visions of sugarplums. Christmas Eve will be all you could hope for and hopefully much more. Chestnuts roasted by the fire, a visit from Father Christmas himself and a mirage of other traditions both European and American. Wake on Christmas Day to the aromas that you thought were only in your dreams. Enjoy the day as you wish while we prepare yet another feast!

New Years Eve
You'll have a few days to recover from the Christmas rush before gearing up for New Year's Eve. Join us for a very special week in the Rockies to celebrate the beginning of the new millennium. On New Year's Eve after a day filled with activities head to the ski area to watch the spectacular Torchlight Parade down the mountain. Return to the Chalet to warm up with mulled wines, Champagne and a relaxed "Tapas" meal.
