Direct Air
Steamboat Springs is well served by the Yampa Valley regional airport at Hayden (HDN) just 22 miles away. Approx. flying time from Denver (DEN) is a short 30 minute jet ride. During the ski season non-stop direct jet service is provided from Chicago, Newark, Houston, Dallas Ft Worth, Minneapolis/St. Paul and Denver with easy connections to over 150 major US cities.

Steamboat also has a well constructed small airport that is ideal for the private flyer.

Once you arrive (full-service lodging) we will be there to whisk you away to our luxury chalets in our fully equipped 4WD Chevrolet Suburbans.

By Road
Steamboat is approximately 160 miles N.W. of Denver and is an easy scenic 3 hour drive (in dry conditions).

Road Map

If you fly into Denver you have several options to complete the journey to Steamboat. Alpine Taxi (800-343-7433), a Steamboat taxi company provides a shuttle from/to Denver International Airport (DIA). They are reasonably priced and comfortable. A variety of car rentals are available from DIA or Hayden. A private Chevy Suburban Limousine service is economical for groups of 8 or more. Please contact us for more information.

Driving directions from Denver: (3 - 4 hours in good conditions).
Take I70 to Silverthorne. At Silverthorne take Rte 9 to Kremling. At Kremling take US40 over Rabbit Ears Pass to Steamboat (Caution: chains / snow tires are required in winter!).

As you come into Steamboat look for directions to the ski area (up to your right) via Mt Werner Rd. Take Mt Werner Rd towards the large knoll (aprx 3/4 mile) where the new Steamboat Grand Hotel is visible on the back-side. Take a left onto the Mt Werner Circle and after 1/4 mile take another left onto Burgess Creek Rd.

Moving Mountains Chalet (4WD Required)
Proceed aprx 1.3 miles up Burgess Creek Rd.  Moving Mountains Chalet is located on the left side of the road at 2774 Burgess Creek Rd - just past the "Winterwood" sign on the right. If you continue round the long bend to the right and up the hill to the Scandinavian Lodge you went too far!

Edelweiss Chalet (4WD Required)
Proceed aprx 1.7 miles up Burgess Creek Rd, and past the Scandinavian Lodge. When you are almost at the top you will see Temple Knolls, a private road on your left. Follow Temple Knolls around to the right and look for the large cream color chalet - no. 3040.

Mountain High Chalet (4WD with snow tires or chains required)
Proceed aprx 1 mile up Burgess Creek Rd until you reach Ridge Road (opposite Burgess Creek Townhomes). Take a left onto Ridge Road and proceed uphill approx 1/2 mile. Mountain High Chalet is a log home with a green roof located on the right side at 2795 Ridge Rd.

Getting Around - Private Shuttle (full-service lodging)
From your arrival in Steamboat in winter we will take care of your local transport needs if you are booking a full-service lodging package. If you fly into Hayden we will pick you up and bring you to the chalet. Our 4WD Chevy Suburbans are fully equipped with studded snow tires and our drivers have all attended the Steamboat Ice-Driving School.

If you plan to ski we will drop you right at the lifts and pick you up at the end of the day - we provide pre-programmed cellphones for you to stay in touch. This means that you do not have to rent a car or drive daily in the snowy conditions. In the evening we'll be happy to show you the night-life Steamboat is known for.

One additional benefit that was highlighted to us by past guests was that our shuttle service offers a greater level of flexibilty to a group wishing to persue several different activities. It eliminated many logistical questions regarding scheduling and who could drive that could be problematic when sharing a rental vehicle.

Getting Around - Rental Vehicles
If you do decide to rent a car you will need 4WD. Access roads are generally well maintained, however, to be really safe 4WD or AWD is the only way (you may encounter hazardous driving conditions!). Hertz and several others offer the intermediate size AWD Subaru Outback and Legacy at good rates. Otherwise a wide range of 4WD Sport Utility Vehicles is available from all the major rental companies.

For rental vehicles snow chains are a wise precaution as most vehicles are equipped with "all-season" tires which are not suited to driving on ice or packed snow.
