I am planning a reunion for my skiing crowd. The ideal resort would be an inn or B&B on the slopes with a modified American plan, downhill skiing for different skill levels, cross-country skiing, snowmobiling and hiking. Is there a place like this in North America?

A company called Moving Mountains Chalets operates European-style catered chalets near Steamboat and Breckenridge resorts in Colorado. The homes come with "a team of dedicated staff on hand to prepare meals, pick up from the local airports, provide a private local area shuttle service in 4WD Suburbans and organize any other activities."

"We take care of everything," said owner Robin Craigen. This kind of pampering does not come cheap, however. At Steamboat's seven-bedroom, ski-in/ski-out Edelweiss Chalet, peak-season rates go for $212 per person per night, including meals. The company also offers discounted flights and lift tickets.
