Getting to Steamboat in Winter

By Air - By Road

A recent ad campign for Steamboat ran with the line that Steamboat is "conveniently located 70 miles from the nearest interstate". If you didn't realize that this is a jibe aimed at Vail, which overlooks the noisy and crowded I-70 corridor, you might think that this means it is hard to get to.

On the contrary, with one of the most extensive guaranteed flight programs, Steamboat has become one of the most accessible ski areas in the USA.

Steamboat Springs is well served by the Yampa Valley regional airport at Hayden (HDN) just 22 miles away. Approx. flying time from Denver (DEN) is a short 30 minute jet ride. During the ski season non-stop direct jet service is provided from Chicago, Newark, Houston, Dallas Ft Worth, Minneapolis/St. Paul, Atlanta, Salt Lake City and Denver with easy connections to all major US cities.

Steamboat also has a well constructed small airport that is ideal for the private flyer.

If you are driving there are numerous options for a scenic route through the Colorado Rockies.
